I am a Conduit of Creation
“Imagination, I would say, is your love language.”
That was a sentiment expressed in a recent conversation with my friend and fellow ‘Soulquarian,’ Sir Jonathan Issac.
It’s true. I am a conduit of creation.
After our conversation, I began to reflect on our discussion and had an “Aha moment.” It dawned on me that I have evolved in multiple unique ways.
Not everyone from my past recognizes or comprehends this newly transformed version of myself. I used to be a struggling artist and singer, then transitioned into an underpaid operations manager. Now, I proudly embody the roles of CEO, creative director, writer, and producer. Not only has there been a shift in my geographic location, there has been shift in identity. The last few years of this journey were filled with challenges and growth, and through it all: leaving Florida, losing my nephew and my baby sister, to transitioning out of a relationship for my career.
It has not been easy.
It has taken over 20 years and 15 revisions of my website to finally present my brand the way I feel it should be represented. Over the years, I have channeled my experiences and emotions into a kaleidoscope of mediums, from painting vivid landscapes with words to singing in front of thousands of people.
And today, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my own experiences and thoughts through various mediums such as writing, producing, and creating visuals. It allows me to delve into the complexities of human emotion and resilience, painting a picture of love and pain that speaks to my soul. My metamorphosis from a once disenchanted dreamer to a visionary has been nothing short of miraculous, a phoenix rising from the ashes of doubt and fear; and with a newfound brand identity.
Since I began my writing journey, and even upon reflecting on my first novel, which is its infancy stage, I can see the growth in my writing. It’s mainly contributed to the fact that I have consumed (and am still consuming) so many books! As a lover of history and fiction, I get excited about reframing historical narratives and including vital contributions to these civilizations. It gives me great pleasure to share ancient wisdom in a new light that extends into the present day for reflection and spiritual practices. When I delved into writing, I quickly realized the importance of reading extensively, especially in uncovering the lost legacies of ancient civilizations like Africa and the Middle East.
Through hours of research and reading recommended books, I have sought to understand the profound impact these cultures have had on religion, philosophy, history, and spirituality. Reframing historical narratives and sharing ancient wisdom in a new light brings me joy and allows for reflection and spiritual growth. The stories and poetic works in my anthology are conveyed and reframed through the art of envisioning, visual story-telling and sound design.
Ever since the passing of my grandmother in 2012, my mind had been a garden of creative wonders, bursting with thoughts and ideas. My friend, stage and studio-mate Paula Holmes was the first to call me a “Wunderkind.” Since I was a young boy, my fascination with the power of the mind was palpable, like a classical score playing softly in the background, subtly guiding me through the labyrinth of my thoughts. I felt like each idea became a hidden treasure, waiting for me to unearth and examine with care.
This was not just an ordinary pursuit of the unknown, but an intense look into the depths of my soul, where secrets and truths intertwined like vines in a dense forest.
As I delved deeper into the intricacies of my thoughts, I realized that my love language was not spoken in words, but in the silent whispers of my imagination. This language represents a beautiful expression of emotions, conveyed through delicate brushstrokes, creating a vivid picture of my innermost desires and curiosities.
I have found a profound sense of purpose and fulfillment that transcends the boundaries of time and space. And through my art and books, I hope to inspire others to embrace their own unique languages of love, to find solace in the beauty of creation that resides within us all.
I am grateful for the opportunity to present these new works for your reading, listening and viewing pleasure and am thoroughly enjoying the journey of composing an adventure of a LifeTime.
